On Sunday 23rd March 2025 Earley Town Council organised another Huge Earley Litter Pick (HELP), assisted by Earley Adopt a Street Initiative (EASI) and the Earley Environmental Group, as part of the Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean.
Although the weather forecast was for rain, the turnout was impressive with 119 determined volunteers donning their waterproofs and arming themselves with litter pickers to keep Earley free of litter. The Town Council was delighted to see such a wide variety of groups and age ranges interacting with one another and proudly working to improve their local community together.
A total of 7 routes were led by a mix of Earley town councillors and staff, and members of EASI, starting at various locations dotted around Earley in morning and/or afternoon sessions. Alongside these routes covered by the volunteers, staff from McDonalds once again did a sterling job, leading their own route and collecting an impressive 60 bags of assorted litter! This year’s HELP also drew support from a team of volunteers from PepsiCo, Green Park, who litter picked an additional route in north Earley.
Every year the Huge Earley Litter Pick event gets bigger and better, involving more volunteers, bringing more people together and covering more roads. Sadly, the amount of litter picked also grows – this year the team collected an incredible 213 bags, over double what was collected last year.
Earley Town Council would like to thank everybody who contributed to this hugely successful litter pick and would encourage anyone interested in litter picking their local road or area to contact Earley Adopt A Street Initiative (EASI) on [email protected]. EASI are always looking for volunteers and maintain a list of vacant streets in need of picking regularly.
